20 March 2014 : The pan-European campaign “Get On-Line Week” will be launched on March 24. In Poland there are close to 400 institutions and organizations involved in the campaign: libraries, schools, cultural centers, computer studios and NGOs. Each of them is organizing meetings for various age groups during which it will be possible to find out helpful information on internet use and how new technologies can help in job seeking or planning the professional future. 24 February 2014: The launch of the pan-European campaign Get On-Line Week will take place on February 24. The goal of this year’s action is to show how new technologies can help find jobs or plan the professional future. 3 June 2013: Digital skills are abilities for the future in the opinion of Signatories of the Grand Alliance towards Digital Skills in Poland, which today was signed at the Presidential Palace in Warsaw in the presence of EU representatives, the President’s Chancellery and Ministry of Administration and Digitalization. 24 May 2013.: „Open monuments” is one of the first crowdsoursing projects in Poland. Crowdsourcing means that it is conducted entirely by citizens via an internet tool available on www.otwartezabytki.pl. The tool will allow to create a full data base of monuments available in internet in the form of a catalogue supplemented by internet users in which monuments will be described and photographed. Why? To provide everyone interested, regardless of where they live or their previous knowledge on the monuments, easy and comfortable access to information gathered at one place. Więcej... 25 March 2013: More than 8000 participants in over 500 locations all over Poland where the meetings were organized. During the meetings: experiments, virtual trips around the world and … first steps in internet. This is the balance of the Polish edition of “Get online Week 2013”. Warsaw, 12 December 2011.: The report „Internet use and quality of life of the 50+ group” prepared on commission from the Coalition for the Digital Inclusion of the 50+ Generation „M@turity in the Net” demonstrates that people over 50 years of age who use computers and Internet are more satisfied with life, develop their interests, feel less lonely and have a better understanding of the contemporary world. Meanwhile their peers who have not tackled new technologies are aware their participation in social life is not full. The goal of the research was to check whether and in what degree internet contributes to improvement of the quality of life of the 50+ group. The report was developed from the initiative of members of the Coalition – UPC Poland and Microsoft in June 2011. Więcej... Warsaw, 14 November 2012: According to research, people aged 50+ are the most dynamically growing group of Internet users. At the same time, computers and internet are more difficult to operate for people over 50 and less intuitive than for younger users. The latest report of the Coalition “M@turity in the Net” prepared on commission from UPC Polska and IBM contains an analysis of popular web sites regarding their usability for seniors and recommendations for creators of web sites on how to prepare them optimally to be clear for all users. Warsaw 20 February 2012.: Libraries, schools, cultural centers, computer studios and institutions offering public access to Internet may join the international campaign „Get online Week” which begins on March 26. Participants are requested to organize an integration meeting for children, parents and grandparents and demonstrate the possibilities of internet.

BRUSSELS, 22 November 2011, „Win experience for the future” – with this intention representatives of the Coalition for the Inclusion of the 50+ Generation “M@turity in the Net” conducted discussions at the seat of the European Parliament . Invited by MEP Roza Thun, Coalition members had the opportunity to present to the representatives of the European Parliament and the Commission the most important information on the scale of digital exclusion and challenges faced by Europe and member countries. The Coalition “M@turity in the Net” in cooperation with Polish government representatives shared its experience in expending digital in Poland. Krakow, 25th of October 2011: In Krakow about 53,4 of residents aged 50+ uses Internet, but the access to the Internet has nearly 64,8%. Meanwhile, the latest research of the Coalition from Digital Exclusion 50+ Generation ”M@turity in the net” present that for those 50+ the Internet is a “window on the world”, which gives an opportunity to gain information, enhance knowledge and contact with others. About what to do to persuade Poles to use innovative communication tools discussed in the Krakow’s City Hall., where took place the Coalition of “M@turity in the net” conference. Warsaw, 26th of September 2011: In the Presidential Palace took place a crowning gala with celebrating the first edition of “M@turity in the net”. Good practice” competition, under the honorary patronage of Polish President Bronisław Komorowski. The aim of the competition is to fight against digital exclusion of people 50+ by promoting solutions encouraging to use the Internet. During the ceremony, were awarded three winning prizes for the best projects, which were chosen from over 100 applications. Warsaw, 14th of September 2010 r.: Krakow joined the Coalition of Digital exclusion of the 50+ Generation ”M@turity in the net”. The ceremonial of signing a declaration of cooperation was held in the City Hall building. The Coalition initiators are: UPC Poland and Academy for the philanthropy of development in Poland. Warsaw 8th of March 2010: Over 10 million matured Poles are affected by e-exclusion, and in the network miss representation of seniors adequate to this, what is in society. Therefore, UPC Polska and Academy for the philanthropy of development created for the Digital e-Inclusion of the 50+ Generation ”M@turity in the net”. The aim of the project is to unite businesses, NGO’s, agencies and institutions to encourage older people to actively use the internet. The first co-founders are: The Jagiellonian University Foundation, Information Society Development Foundation, F-secure, IBM, Microsoft, Onet.pl, PCPE Lewiatan and Polish Scouting and Guiding Association.
